University of Delaware Women's Tennis Falls 4-3 at Navy, Snaps Three-Match Win Streak

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The University of Delaware women's tennis team dropped its first match of the season in a 4-3 decision to Navy at Tose Family Tennis Center on Friday.
The Blue Hen women (3-1) snapped a three-match win streak after an undefeated start to the season.
Delaware won two singles matches in straight sets while dropping four closely contested matches. In doubles, the Hens earned the point thanks to two easy victories.
The Blue Hens' singles victories came at the No. 2 spot from Samantha Carnall (at right) (6-1, 6-4) and at the No. 3 spot from Courtney Fenimore (6-2, 6-3). At the No. 1 spot, Dorothy Safron won the first set, 6-2, before Navy's Darlen Sears rallied with 7-5 and 6-1 victories to earn the point.
Navy's Erin Snook defeated Sophie Sjoberg-Sundstrom in straight sets, 6-0, 7-5, at the No. 4 spot, while Noelle Kaufmann defeated Delaware's Amanda Halstrom, 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot.
Olivia Heim put up a fight for the Hens, winning her first set 6-3, before Navy's Gabby Winter finished off the next sets, 6-4, 6-2, to notch the point for the Mids.
In doubles action, Carnall and Sjoberg-Sundstrom were victorious at the No. 1 spot with an 8-6 triumph over Navy's Emani Decquir and Stefanie Ton.
Safron and Fenimore fell to Erin Snook and Kaufmann at No. 2, 8-6, while Kimberly Milla and Christina Harrington picked up a victory at the No. 3 spot to help earn the doubles point for the Hens.
Delaware looks to bounce back as the Hens return home to host Temple on March 12 for a 3 p.m. match at the Delaware Field House Courts.
