Women's Tennis Defeats Drexel on Senior Day for Seventh-Consecutive Victory

NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware women's tennis picked up its seventh-straight win in a 4-0 victory over Drexel on senior day at the DFH Outdoor Courts Sunday afternoon.

The Fightin' Blue Hens improve to 19-4, while the Dragons drop to 9-9. This was the team's 21st-straight home win.

The team honored six seniors prior to the match, including Katie Dollens, Amelia Gorman, Maryia Hrynashka, Paulina Jurkowska, Navya Vadlamudi, and Hanna Vinahradava.

"Today is about our seniors and everything they've given to this program," head coach Pablo Montana said. "They've set the standard with their leadership, passion, and competitive spirit. Our doubles continues to be a strength as we stay aggressive, confident, and connected. In singles, we came out firing with the goal of competing for our seniors, and we played with passion and joy. Now we're excited to see what's next for us in the Conference USA championship because this group has earned it."

- Delaware moved to 40-7 all time against Drexel and 20-3 at home.
- The Hens took all three doubles matches, winning its 21st doubles point of the season.Â
- Katie Dollens and Lara Russiniello notched their fifth-consecutive victory, picking up a 6-2 win in third doubles.
- Amelia Gorman and Navya Vadlamudi moved to 17-3 on the year, winning 6-3. The duo also secured the doubles point for UD.
- Maryia Hrynashka and Paulina Jurkowska finished their home court career winning 7-6 (7-3) in a tiebreaker. The all-time doubles wins leaders won their 46th-career match in this contest.
- In singles, Russiniello captured the first point for Delaware at 6-0, 6-2, pushing the score to 2-1. She moves to 24-7 on the year in singles action with her sixth-straight win, tying for fifth all-time for singles wins in a single season.
- On court three, Gorman won 6-4, 6-3, taking point three for the Blue & Gold.
- Vadlamudi won her team-leading seventh singles win in a row, moving to 16-4 in dual action. She won 7-5, 6-2, including four-consecutive game wins to wrap up the second set.
- This is the 10th time in Pablo Montana's career that he has coached a team to at least 19 wins in a season.
