Delaware?s Kelsey McKee Earns Spot on Pre-Season All-Colonial Athletic Association Field Hockey Team

RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware sophomore defender Kelsey McKee (at right), who led the Blue Hen field hockey team in scoring as a freshman last fall, has been named to the Pre-Season All-Colonial Athletic Association squad.
The 19-player All-CAA team was selected by a vote of the league coaches. McKee was the long Blue Hen player named to the team.
Northeastern senior forward Crystal Poland was named the 2012 CAA preseason Player of the Year in a vote by the league's head coaches. Defending champion Old Dominion placed a league-high three players on the first team.
A native of Gap, Pa. (Coatesville High School), McKee earned second team All-CAA and CAA Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman in 2011 when she scored a team-high nine goals and 24 points in leading Delaware to a berth in the CAA Tournament. She became the first freshman to lead the team in scoring since Melissa Hefner in 1993 and her nine goals were the most by a Delaware rookie since Leah Geib tallied 10 goals in 2001.
McKee was a two-time CAA Rookie of the Week in 2011 when she also dished out three assists and led the team with 71 shots. She was also a member of the USA Women's National Indoor Team during the off-season.
The 2012 CAA field hockey season starts Friday, August 24 with seven teams in action highlighted by the Blue Hens playing host to No. 14 ranked Boston University at Rullo Stadium at 6 p.m. The Hens will also host No. 19 Albany Sunday at 1 p.m.
