Blue Hen Field Hockey Heads To Appalachian State, No. 14 Wake Forest This Weekend For Final Non-Conference Games

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware field hockey team will travel to Appalachian State on Saturday and to 14th-ranked Wake Forest on Sunday, with action on both days beginning at 1 p.m., as the Blue Hens close out the non-conference portion of their non-conference schedule.
Delaware enters this weekend with a 3-6 record after losing at second-ranked Princeton by a score of 10-2 on Sunday. The Blue Hens continue the difficult schedule they have faced this year, as the Demon Deacons will be Delaware's sixth ranked opponent of the season.
The Blue Hens are paced by freshman midfielder Michaela Patzner, who leads the team with five goals and 11 points on the year. Sophomore back Kelsey McKee has added four goals and 10 points to rank second on the squad, while senior Nikki Onorato also has scored four goals and junior Kasey Prettyman has chipped in with three goals and two assists.
Junior goalkeeper Sarah Scher has started all but one game in the Blue Hen cage, recording 43 saves and posting a 3.41 goals against average.
Appalachian State enters Saturday's contest with a 2-5 record and the Mountaineers feature six multiple goal scorers, including a team-best three by Jordyn Warren.
On Sunday the Blue Hens will face a Wake Forest squad that has faced six ranked opponents this year and will play another by competing against fourth-ranked Maryland on Saturday.
The Demon Deacons (3-4) have seven multiple goal scorers on their roster, with Krysta Wangerin leading the team with three. She also has posted a team-high nine points, along with teammate Anna Kozniuk.
Following this weekend's matchups, the Hens will open their Colonial Athletic Association schedule on Friday, Sept. 28 with a 7 p.m. game at William and Mary.
