Delaware Women's Tennis Sweeps Lehigh; Moves to 3-0 on Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the sixth straight season, the University of Delaware women's tennis team has opened play with a 3-0 record as the Blue Hens swept Lehigh, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at Lehigh's Indoor Courts.
“This was a solid win following a close Rutgers match,” commented UD head coach Laura Travis.
In Flight 1 Singles, Dorothy Safron defeated Jenai Bilimoria by a score of 6-3, 6-0.
Kim Milla (at right) and Amanda Halstrom also picked up 6-0 wins over their opponents.
Milla took the 6-3, 6-0 win against Molly Brooks in Flight 5 while Halstrom beat Jill Sloand, 6-0, 4-6, 10-5 in Flight 6.
Carmen Lai put up a 6-1, 6-2 Flight 2 victory over Abby Farrell, 6-1, 6-2.
In Flight 3, Nataliya Naumova defeated Ali Kaminetsky, 6-1, 6-2.
Rounding out the wins for the Blue Hens was Olivia Heim with a Flight 4 win against Emily Bruch, 6-4, 6-2.
Scores were a bit closer in doubles play, but Delaware still dominated the action with three wins.
Safron/Lai won a 8-6 match in Flight 1 against Bilimoria/Farrell while Flight 2's matchup against Naumova/Milla and Bruch/Sloand produced the same score.
In Flight 3 doubles, Halstrom and Christina Harrington defeated Kaminestky/Brooks by a score of 8-2.
The Blue Hens look for their fourth straight win Saturday, Feb. 23 as they host St. Joseph's at the Elkton Indoor Courts at 6 p.m.
