RICHMOND, Va. – Following two big road victories, University of Delaware sophomore Esmée Peet (Zeewolde, The Netherlands/RSG Slingerbos) was honored Tuesday by the Colonial Athletic Association as its field hockey Co-Player of the Week.
Peet led the Blue Hens Friday in exciting fashion as the midfielder recorded the game-winning goal in double overtime at Princeton. As Delaware (9-5, 3-0 CAA) was on the move, Peet received a perfect pass from junior Michaela Patzner (Rosenheim, Germany/Karolinen Gymnasium) and was able to scoop it over the Tiger goalie's head and into the cage for the 2-1 victory. Peet also recorded an assist against Princeton.
In Sunday's 2-1 win at Towson, Peet tallied UD's first goal of the game off a penalty corner.
Peet currently leads the Hens with three game-winning goals and 21 points off a team-best nine goals and three assists.
Peet shares Player of the Week honors with William & Mary's Emma Clifton. Simca Schoen (Hofstra) was named the Rookie of the Week.
Delaware returns home this weekend to host Columbia on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Fred P. Rullo Stadium. The Blue Hens will welcome back and honor the 2004 CAA Championship squad as a part of Homecoming Weekend.
