GAME PREVIEW:
Delaware Hits the Road to Resume Rivalry with Colonial Athletic Association Foe Wm. & Mary
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The University of Delaware and No. 18 ranked William & Mary will have more than a few things in common this Saturday when they meet for their Colonial Athletic Association clash at Zable Stadium at 12:30 p.m.
The two longtime rivals, who both went 7-5 overall and 4-4 in league play last year, have battled every year since 1993 and first met way back in 1915. They both again enter with identical records of 4-3 this week and both are coming off home losses in games that went down to the wire. This week's winner will move a step closer in the race to catch CAA frontrunners Villanova and New Hampshire.
Delaware (4-3, 2-1 CAA) is coming off a 24-17 Homecoming loss to Towson Saturday as the Blue Hens relinquished a lead midway through the final quarter as the Tigers scored twice in the final 5:23 to pull out the win at Delaware Stadium. The Blue Hens had won four of their previous five games entering the contest.
William & Mary (4-3, 1-2 CAA) suffered a heartbreaker Saturday as the Tribe led No. 5 ranked Villanova in the final minutes before the Wildcats won the game on a short touchdown pass with just 52 seconds left to play. Just a week earlier, the Tribe had dropped a 31-3 verdict on the road to then No. 4 ranked New Hampshire.
