DANBURY, Conn. -- Already selected to three postseason All-American teams this fall, University of Delaware sophomore punter Eric Enderson added another accolade this week as he was selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Football Championship Subdivision All-East team.
Enderson, who earlier this month was named to the Associated Press, College Sports Madness, and Beyond Sports Network All-American teams, was honored on the regional level as he was one of 33 players selected to the All-ECAC team, which is selected by a vote of head coaches from the Colonial Athletic Association, Ivy League, Patriot League, and Northeast Conference, as well as selected members of the Big South and Mid-Eastern Athletic conferences.
Enderson becomes just the second punter in Delaware history to earn All-East honors, joining Gene Vadas, who was a first team selection in both 1990 and 1991.
A criminal justice major from Hampton, Va. (Phoebus High School), Enderson is a two-year All-American and a two-time All-CAA selection after earning first team honors back in November. He enjoyed yet another outstanding season as one of the nation's top punters in 2014. He punted 54 times for 2,424 yards and a 44.9 yard average this fall and had a long punt of 69 yards. He had 12 punts go for 50 or more yards, 11 of his kicks were fair caught, and 16 of his punts landed inside the opponent 20-yard line. As a team, Delaware ranks No. 8 in the NCAA and No. 1 in the CAA in net punting.
Enderson's 44.9-yard average per punt, which was just short of his school record mark of 45.0 set last year, led all CAA punters and currently ranks fourth in the NCAA. Enderson, who also held on placements, scored a touchdown this season when he ran in from two yards out off a fake field goal against Albany.
Villanova quarterback John Robertson was named Offensive Player of the Year while Bucknell linebacker Evan Byers was Defensive Player of the Year, Fordham running back Chase Edmonds was Offensive Rookie of the Year, Duquesne defensive back Nathan Stone was Defensive Rookie of the Year, and New Hampshire's Sean McDonnell was named Coach of the Year.
In all, Enderson was one of 12 CAA players honored on the All-East team.
