The 123rd season of University of Delaware football - and Year 2 of the Dave Brock Era - will get underway this Saturday when the Blue Hens travel to western Pennsylvania to take on first-time opponent University of Pittsburgh of the Atlantic Coast Conference at Heinz Field.
Delaware, picked No. 6 in the Colonial Athletic Association preseason coaches poll and receiving votes in both major preseason NCAA FCS polls, returns 13 starters from the 2013 club that went 7-5 overall and narrowly missed a berth into the NCAA Tournament.
Pittsburgh, picked No. 6 in the Coastal Division of the ACC, returns 14 starters from its 2013 team that went 7-6 and defeated Bowling Green 30-27 in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in Detroit. The Panthers went 3-5 in league play and placed sixth in the CAA Coastal Division while posting a 4-3 mark at Heinz Field.
