Delaware Looks to Return to Winning Ways Friday at No. 16 Temple; Host Cornell Sunday

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware field hockey squad looks to pick up its first win over a ranked opponent this weekend as the Blue Hens travel to No. 16 Temple Friday before hosting Cornell Sunday afternoon at Rullo Stadium.

SUNDAY GAME DAY INFORMATION (at Rullo Stadium)
· ADMISSION: Admission is free and open to the public for all home Delaware field hockey games held at Rullo Stadium.
· PARKING: Fans are reminded to follow all signs and parking maps for Rullo Stadium events.
· YOUTH DAY: Youth Day activities begin at noon as kids are invited to enjoy inflatable fun including a bounce house, obstacle course, visit with Baby Blue and more! The first 200 kids in attendance will receive a UD wristband upon entry.
· POST-GAME AUTOGRAPHS: Stick around for post-game autographs with the entire team! The autograph session will take place under the bleachers immediately following the team's cool-down period.
· LIVE STREAM: Sunday's game versus Cornell will be live streamed, for free, via Hens All-Access on www.BlueHens.com. Kyle Coulter (play-by-play) and Emily Arnot (color) will have the call. A full rebroadcast of the game will be available on Delaware's YouTube page within 24 hours of completion of the contest.

· Patzner now has 66 career points (26g, 14a), which is good for 18th in Delaware program history.
· Five Blue Hens have scored at least one goal this season while eight have tallied at least one point.
· Emmeline Oltmans has started all five games in the cage for Delaware and has tallied 18 saves with 13 goals allowed.
SERIES INFORMATION
· One of the longest running matchups in program history, Delaware is 19-11-1 all-time against Temple dating to 1980 while the two teams have met in each of the last 18 seasons. The Hens have won two straight and five of the last six against the Owls, including a 2-0 upset over No. 11 Temple last season at Rullo Stadium.
· Sunday's game vs. Cornell is just the second overall meeting between the Blue Hens and Big Red. In the first matchup, Cornell defeated UD, 4-3 in overtime at Rullo on Sept. 5, 2010.
· Temple head coach Amanda Janney (Wake Forest '99) is in her 10th season at TU and holds an all-time career record of 103-88 with the Owls.
· Donna Hornibrook (New Brunswick) boasts a record of 88-78 over 11 seasons with the Big Red. Prior to joining Cornell, Hornibrook coached at Houghton (111-39-4) and New Brunswick (60-8-6). Among Division I head coaches, she ranks 14th overall for winning percentage (.698) and 20th for career wins (199), marks that would be higher if the NCAA counted her record at Canada's New Brunswick.
ABOUT NO. 16 TEMPLE
The Owls earned a No. 16 ranking in the most recent Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll after not receiving a ranking in the preseason. Temple is 3-1 overall following wins versus Rutgers (6-1), Northeastern (4-2) and No. 10 UMass (2-0). The team's lone loss came this past Sunday with a 3-0 shutout at the hands of No. 4 Duke. Junior Tricia Light recorded her first career hat trick with three goals in TU's 6-1 win at Rutgers to be named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Senior goalie Lizzy Millen was also recognized by the BIG EAST as its Defensive Player of the Week following opening weekend play. Light and Amber Youtz lead the team with six points apiece on three goals each.
ABOUT CORNELL
The Big Red have opened the year with a mark of 1-1. Cornell tied a school record by erupting for a 9-0 victory over Colgate to kick off the season before falling, 2-1, to Albany last weekend. Following the offensive outburst, the Big Red find themselves ranked first in the nation in goals per game (5.00), points per game (14.50), scoring average (5.00) and scoring margin (4.00). They are also second overall in assists per game (4.50). Senior Ann DiPastina ranks third in the NCAA in assists per game (1.50) while Katie Garrity and Taylor Standiford both rank eighth overall (1.00). Other nationally ranked players include Marisa Siergiej (fourth – 1.50 goals per; seventh – 7.00 points per) and Elizabeth Horak (14th – 1.00 goals per). Freshman goalie Kelly Johnson has kicked off her career at Cornell with six saves and two goals allowed in two games started.
