NEWARK, Del. -- Mandie Plowman, a 2014 University of Delaware graduate, has joined the UD athletics marketing staff in the new position of community outreach manager.
A native of Sterling, Va., Plowman will be responsible for spearheading all student marketing and community outreach efforts in addition to sport specific marketing responsibilities including working closely with the field hockey, swimming & diving, softball, and baseball programs.
A Dean's List student, Plowman earned her degree in English professional writing with a minor in advertising and business administration from Delaware in May, 2014.
"I am more than thrilled to officially join such an incredible team of athletics staff, and especially to come back to the Blue Hens," said Plowman.
While an undergraduate, Plowman was a top member of the UD Sports Marketing Student Team for three years and worked closely with UD Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Promotions Kristy Fletcher and her staff.
In that role, Plowman helped implement gameday promotions for all varsity sports, including coordinating efforts for the women's lacrosse program in 2013 and 2014. She also planned, promoted, and executed events for the Future Hens Club, and helped manage other marketing projects.
She also worked one semester as a staff writer for the UD Athletics website, www.bluehens.com, where she wrote Athlete of the Week features and other stories.
Additionally, Plowman served as a Blue Hen Ambassador with the UD Admissions Office for three years. In her roll as ambassador, she gave guided tours to prospective students, spoke on panels with professors, students, and alumni, and trained future ambassadors.
