Delaware Football Matchup with Delaware State Postponed to Sunday at 12 noon

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware football squad's First State Cup matchup with Delaware State was postponed due to heavy rains and lightning Saturday night but the game will still be played as the teams will square off Sunday at 12 noon at Delaware Stadium.
“The safety and welfare of our fans and student-athletes is paramount, which led to our decision to postpone this game,” said UD Director of Athletics and Recreation Services Eric Ziady. “Original reports as late as 5 p.m. indicated that there would be a 3-4 hour gap between storm cells. But as time went on that gap rapidly closed. We hope everyone can join us again Sunday for what should be a great day of college football.”
Parking lots and stadium gates will open at 10 a.m. on Sunday and all lots and tailgating will operate as normal. Parking in single game lots will be complimentary.
Fans with tickets to Saturday's game should bring their tickets or stubs for entrance into the stadium on Sunday. Those fans who have lost or misplaced their tickets from today's game will be issued replacements at the Delaware Stadium Box Office. Tickets will be available for sale beginning at 10 a.m.
Other information regarding Sunday's game:
• Select concessions will be available, however the Delaware Beer Gardens will not be open
• The Fan Zone will not be open, however Youth Cheer Day will go on as scheduled with the youngsters set to perform at halftime
• The Bob Carpenter Center Club will open beginning at 10 a.m. with regular gameday service available
• The Delaware vs. North Carolina field hockey game set for 12 noon at Rullo Stadium will go on as scheduled. Fans should park in the Star Campus lot located across the street from the Delaware Field House off South College Avenue
