CHANDLER, Ariz. – After a weekend in which the Blue Hens went 1-1, Delaware field hockey received 232 points and dropped to No. 15 in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll.
Previously ranked No. 13, the Blue Hens fell, 6-2, to then-No. 12 Liberty this past Sunday. With the win, the Flames jumped to the No. 8 spot.
The top five remained the same with Syracuse (13-0) leading the way with 847 points and 22 first place votes. UConn (13-0), North Carolina (11-1), Duke (10-3) and Virginia (10-3) follow in order.
Delaware has been ranked in the NFHCA Top 20 in each week since September 8 and reached as high as No. 12. The Blue Hens are also ranked No. 14 in the most recent NCAA Field Hockey RPI.
UD will play just one game this weekend, but it will be a challenging non-conference bout as the No. 5 Cavaliers arrive in Newark for a 1 p.m. contest Sunday.
