Blue Hens Close Non-Conference Action Tuesday at No. 18 Maryland

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware (6-6-2) will face its fifth ranked opponent of the year Tuesday evening as the Blue Hens travel to College Park, Md. for a 7 p.m. meeting with No. 18 Maryland (6-3-4).

The Blue Hens picked up their third CAA victory of the season Saturday evening as Joe Dipre posted three points in Delaware's 3-2 win at Northeastern. Down 1-0 in the ninth minute, Ryan Talbot registered the equalizer with his second goal in as many games with an assist from Dipre. Dipre followed just two minutes later with an unassisted goal to give Delaware (6-6-2, 3-2 CAA) the 2-1 advantage. The first half scoring continued for the Hens when Thibault Philippe also collected a goal in back-to-back games off a header from a corner kick from Thomas de Villardi. Todd Morton recorded five saves in the win while Jonathan Thuresson collected three saves for the Huskies.
HEN SCRATCHINGS
· Thomas de Villardi earned CAA Player of the Week honors Monday after registering five points in wins over Drexel and Northeastern.
· UD has recorded at least three goals in back-to-back games for the first time since September 2014.
· With 13 career assists, Joe Dipre has moved into a tie for fifth in program history with Chris Donahue (1973-76), Ken Whitehead (1980-82) and Dan Keane (1998-01).
· With three points versus Drexel, Guillermo Delgado upped his career total to 75 (33g, 9a). John McCloskey (1975-78) is second in school history with 82 career points (35g, 12a).
· Todd Morton has allowed an average of 0.67 goals with a save percentage of .833 in seven games played this season.
· Ten Blue Hens have now tallied at least one point on the year.
· Delaware has competed in four double overtime contests this season for the first time since playing five in 2011.
· Since 2011, UD has earned two berths to the NCAA Tournament with a CAA Tournament Championship in 2011, CAA Regular Season title in 2014 and two CAA Tournament Finals appearances.
· Upon his arrival in College Park in 1993, Sasho Cirovski (Milwaukee '85) has transformed Maryland into a national soccer power by leading the Terps to two NCAA titles, seven College Cup appearances and 20 total trips to the NCAA Tournament. Now in his 23rd season, Cirovski has guided UM to an overall record of 350-129-41.
ABOUT NO. 18 MARYLAND
The No. 18 Terps are currently 6-3-4 on the year and 2-1-3 in Big Ten action. Most recently, Maryland played to a 0-0 draw against rival Indiana Friday in a rematch of last season's Big Ten Tournament title game. The game was the seventh shutout of the year for the Terps. Freshman Sebastian Elney leads the team with 14 points on six goals and two assists while senior Mael Corboz has posted 11 points on two goals and a team-best seven assists, a mark good for seventh nationally. Redshirt junior Cody Neidermeyer has started 11 games for Maryland and has played a total of 1084 minutes with 0.75 goals allowed per game and 38 total saves.
