Blue Hens Hit the Road to Take on Rival Towson in Battle of Teams Looking to Move Among CAA Leaders
TOWSON, Md. -- Two teams looking to make a big move and earn a spot among the Colonial Athletic Association leaders will square off at Johnny Unitas Stadium on Halloween afternoon as the Blue Hens make the quick drive south to take on rival Towson Saturday at 2 p.m.
Delaware and Towson moved into a tie for fifth place in the league standings - just one game out of second place - with key home victories over longtime CAA leaders this past week as the Blue Hens (3-4, 2-2 CAA) ran past New Hampshire for a 31-14 victory while Towson (4-3, 2-2 CAA) ran back two interception returns for touchdowns in a 28-21 triumph over Villanova.
Both teams received votes in this week's Top 25 polls, are looking to move up in the league standings where No. 6/8 Richmond (4-0) holds the top spot followed by No. 9/9 James Madison (4-1), Maine (3-1), and No. 16/15 William & Mary (3-1). JMU and William & Mary will also square off Saturday.
One of the Hens' most heated rivalries, Delaware and Towson will meet for the 17th time with UD holding a 10-6 lead. Delaware will be aiming to avenge last year's 24-17 loss at Delaware Stadium while looking to extend its winning streak to five straight in Towson.
