Blue Hens Hold Steady at No. 13 in NFHCA Poll

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Off to one of the best starts in program history, Delaware field hockey held on to the No. 13 spot in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll.
The Hens split the CAA-opening weekend with a 4-0 win over William & Mary before falling, 2-1, in overtime to then-No. 19 James Madison. Delaware is now 10-2 on the year and has reached the 10-win plateau for the 29th season since the program's inception in 1971.
UD collected 313 points and is one of nine teams nationally to reach 10 wins on the year. The top five shuffled a bit with Syracuse (11-0) taking over the top spot with 915 points (15 first place) and UConn (11-0) coming in second with 894 points (25 first place). North Carolina (10-1) remained third while Duke (8-3) moved up a spot to fourth and Virginia (9-2) dropped to five.
Delaware is third in the NCAA statistical rankings with 3.94 goals per game and seventh with a scoring margin of 1.97.
The Blue Hens face a tough weekend with CAA action at Hofstra (10-3) Friday afternoon before hosting No. 12 Liberty (7-3) Sunday at 1 p.m.
