Delaware Seeks CAA Win at No. 14 Hofstra Saturday

NEWARK, Del. – The Blue Hens look to knock off No. 14 Hofstra for their second CAA Victory of the season as Delaware takes on the Pride Saturday at 7 p.m. in Hempstead, N.Y.

LAST TIME OUT
Guillermo Delgado and Jaime Martinez guided Delaware Wednesday evening as the Blue Hens defeated the College of Charleston, 2-0, at Patriots Point Soccer Stadium. With the win, the Hens snapped a five-game winless streak and grabbed their first CAA victory of the season to improve to 4-5-2 overall and 1-1 in league action. Delgado notched his 33rd career goal in the 19th minute as he took a pass from Martinez and gave Delaware the 1-0 advantage. Martinez posted the second and final goal of the night in the 50th minute off a penalty kick. Todd Morton continues to impress in goal for UD with a season-best eight saves.
HEN SCRATCHINGS
· Guillermo Delgado is now alone in third place in school history with 72 career points (32g, 8a). John McCloskey (1975-78) is second all-time with 82 points (35g, 12a) while Mike Biggs (1968-70) is the career leader with 99 points (47g, 5a).
· Delgado's 32 goals are third-most in school history and three shy of second place, which is currently held by McCloskey.
· Todd Morton has allowed an average of 0.24 goals with a save percentage of .938 in 380 minutes of action this season.
· Since 2011, UD has earned two berths to the NCAA Tournament with a CAA Tournament Championship in 2011, CAA Regular Season title in 2014 and two CAA Tournament Finals appearances.
· In the past five seasons, Delaware has posted a record of 23-18-7 (.552) against CAA opponents.
· With 12 career assists, Joe Dipre is tied for eighth all-time in program history with McCloskey and Roger Morley (1966-68).
· A former professional soccer player in England, Richard Nuttall (Carnegie '84) is in his 27th season as the head coach of the Hofstra men's soccer program. During his tenure, the Pride have posted a mark of 244-212-57 (.531).
ABOUT NO. 14 HOFSTRA
Fresh off their highest national ranking in 10 years, the No. 14 Pride are 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the CAA. HU is coming off of a 3-2 double overtime loss at Duke this past Monday in which the Pride put up the first two goals of the game but the Blue Devils went on a 3-0 tear for the victory. Sophomore forward Meshack Eshun Addy currently leads the league with six goals while junior midfielder Joseph Holland has posted five goals and seven assists for a conference-best 17 points. Senior goalie Patric Pray leads the CAA with 48 saves, a mark good for 14th in the NCAA.
