NEWARK, Del. -- Yet another postseason honor has been bestowed upon Ben Curtis.
The University of Delaware senior offensive tackle earned a spot on the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-East Football second team announced on Friday.
The ECAC includes all NCAA FCS schools that participate in the Colonial Athletic Association, Ivy League, Patriot League, and Northeast Conference.
Curtis, a 6-6, 290 lb. offensive tackle from Columbia, Md. (Calvert Hall High School), was previously named first team All-Colonial Athletic Association in November, earned a spot on the College Sports Madness All-American third team on Dec. 10, and garnered second team Associated Press All-American laurels on Wednesday.
A criminal justice major, Curtis was a four-year starter and was the lone Blue Hen selected to the All-CAA first team during the 2015 season. Also a second team All-CAA pick in 2014, Curtis played in 43 career games for Delaware and started each of his final 40 contests. He anchored an offensive front that has helped Delaware rank No. 2 in the CAA and No. 17 nationally in rushing offense at 219.4 yards per game in 2015.
Curtis is the first UD lineman to earn All-East honors since current Atlanta Falcons lineman Gino Gradkowski earned first team accolades in 2010. He is also the first Delaware tackle to be honored since first teamer Mike Byrne in 2007.
A total of 20 CAA players were selected to the two teams led by first team picks in James Madison quarterback Vad Lee; William & Mary running back Kendell Anderson; Villanova fullback Gary Underwood; William & Mary offensive lineman Andrew Jones; JMU offensive lineman Mitch Kirsch; Maine defensive lineman Trevor Bates; Stony Brook defensive lineman Victor Ochi; New Hampshire defensive back Casey DeAndrade; Richmond defensive back Ayo Ogunniyi; JMU defensive back Taylor Reynolds; William & Mary defensive back DeAndre Houston-Carson; and William & Mary kicker Nick Dorka.
Curtis was joined on the second team by UNH tight end Jordan Powell; Maine offensive lineman Bruce Johnson; Maine defensive lineman Patrick Ricard; JMU linebacker Andrew Ankrah; Villanova linebacker Don Cherry; William & Mary punter Hunter Windmuller; and William & Mary kick returner DeVonte Dedmon.
Fordham running back Chase Edmonds was named Offensive Player of the Year; Duquesne linebacker Christian Kuntz was selected as Defensive Player of the Year; Lehigh running back Dom Bragalone was the Offensive Rookie of the Year; Albany linebacker Julian Cox was Defensive Rookie of the Year; and Colgate's Dan Hunt was named Coach of the Year.
