Delaware Posts Top 60 Finishes at Day 2 of US Swimming AT&T Winter Nationals

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- University of Delaware swimmers continued action at the 2015 US Swimming AT&T Winter National Championships Thursday as the Blue Hens posted three top 60 finishes in competition at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
The meet is one of the fastest in the world each year with the top collegiate and post-collegiate swimmers, numerous Olympic hopefuls, and world record-holders competing in the three-day event.
The third and final day of the meet will begin Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Competing for the Blue Hens will be senior Morgan Whyte in the 100 freestyle at 9:50 a.m. (PST) and junior Cory Camp and senior Alex Tooley in the 1,500 freestyle at 5 p.m.
Camp and Tooley both also competed Friday as they posted a pair of top 40 finishes in the 400 individual medley. Tooley (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge HS) placed 32nd overall with a time of 4:37.99 while Camp (Olney, Md./James Hubert Blake HS) swam to a time of 4:41.13 to place 34th out of 40 swimmers. Tooley was seventh in his heat while Camp was fifth in his.
Chase Kalisz, the 2013 NCAA national champion in the same event while at the University of Georgia, capture the title Friday with a time of 4:18.40.
On the women's side, Delaware senior co-captain Alyssa Sanders (Dover, Del./Milford) placed 56th in the 100 backstroke while junior Annie Nunes (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) finished 76th in the 100 breaststroke.
Sanders swam to a time of 1:04.76 in the 100 backstroke to place 56th overall and fifth in her heat. The event was won by University of Texas recruit and national junior record-holder Claire Adams who swam to a time of 1:00.44.
Nunes recorded a time of 1:15.62 in the 100 breaststroke to place 76th overall. Russian standout and 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Yulia Efimova won the event with a time of 1:06.81.
