EMMITSBURG, Md. -- The University of Delaware men's lacrosse game scheduled for this Friday, Feb. 20, at 12 noon, has been postponed again, this time moving to a Tuesday, Feb. 23 start. Game time will be 3 p.m.
The move was made due to the threat of sub-freezing temperatures in the Emmitsburg, Md. area. The game will be played at the Mount's Waldon Family Center Stadium.
Orginally scheduled for Friday, Feb. 20, the game was first changed to Monday, Feb. 23 and then moved back to Tuesday, Feb. 24.
Delaware (1-2) is coming off a 10-3 setback at Ohio State last Sunday, Feb. 15, while Mt. St. Mary's (1-0) opened its 2015 campaign with an 11-8 win over VMI on Feb. 14.
The nine-day gap between the games is the longest that the Hens have endured since an 11-day break between games in 2007. But that break didn't bother the Hens as they responded with a 9-5 win over Lehigh as part of an NCAA Tournament bound season.
The Blue Hens lead the all-time series by an 11-2 margin, including a 15-5 win last year at Delaware Stadium. However, the Hens did fall to the Mount in their last visit to Emmitsburg, Md. when they fell 15-12 in 2013.
Delaware, in the midst of a three-game road swing that will also include a visit to Villanova next Saturday, Feb. 28, is led offensively by senior midfielder Brian Kormondy (4 goals, 5 assists), senior attackman Beau Jones (4 goals, 4 assists), and senior attackman Tom Holland (6 goals).
Mt. St. Mary's is led by Mike Moynihan who scored three goals vs. VMI while Clayton Wainer and Mike Pascall each scored twice.
