NFHCA Recognizes Delaware Field Hockey for Academic Excellence

CHANDLER, Ariz. – In addition to superior play on the turf, the University of Delaware field hockey team also continues to excel in the classroom, as the Blue Hens were acknowledged Tuesday by the NFHCA as a 2014 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA DivisioN I National Academic Team Award recipient.
Rolf van de KerkhofThe award distinguishes those institutions who have achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year.
“Blue Hen field hockey prides itself with having true student-athletes,” exclaimed Van de Kerkhof. “Our young women are competitive academically and athletically and take great pride in preparing and competing for Delaware pride in the classroom and on the field. I would like to congratulate our group for earning a 3.24 team GPA as they continue to live up to the expectations we have set for them as a program in addition to the challenges and goals they set as a team to pursue excellence as ambassadors of the University of Delaware.”
Van de Kerkhof continued, “Winning another CAA Championship and having a strong academic performance again makes our group a team to be proud of and program to appreciate and respect.”
The Blue Hens finished the 2014 campaign with a record of 13-9 while picking up their second straight CAA title and NCAA Tournament appearance.
