Delaware Begins Seven-Game Road Trip With Weekend Series at UNCW

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The University of Delaware baseball team will commence a seven-game road trip this weekend as the Blue Hens face Colonial Athletic Association foe UNCW for a three-game series at Brooks Field.
Despite dropping two games to No. 21 Maryland this week, Delaware (18-17, 7-8 CAA) has won four straight conference games including a three-game sweep of William & Mary last weekend.
Jim ShermanThe Blue Hens, who split the four games against the Seahawks last season, currently sit in sixth place in the CAA standings, while UNCW is in second place. The top six teams at season's end qualify for the CAA Tournament in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
The Seahawks (30-12, 12-2 CAA) come into this weekend's series having lost four of their last six contests. UNCW has won 10 of their last 13 home games and boast a 22-6 mark at home this season.
Terence Connelly leads the Seahawks with a .368 batting average, while Casey Golden has a team-high 13 doubles, 33 RBI, and is tied for the team-lead with five home runs.
Ryan Foster and Austin Magestro lead the UNCW pitching staff with four wins, while reliever Jordan Ramsey has a 1.35 ERA and a CAA-high seven saves.
Delaware has scored 51 runs in its last four CAA games and hopes to continue its hot play at the plate this weekend at UNCW.
Zach Lopes has been one of the hottest hitters in the UD lineup. The senior second baseman as a .364 batting average and has recorded a multi-hit game in 12 of the last 15 contests.
Adam Davis will start game one for the Hens, while redshirt freshman Ron Marinaccio will take the mound in game two. Chad Martin will get the nod in game three for Delaware.

· UNCW and Delaware first met in 1997 and the Seahawks lead the all-time series 29-16.
· UNCW eliminated Delaware from the CAA Tournament last year with a 5-3 victory.
· Greg Olenski leads the Blue Hens and the CAA with a .419 batting average.
· UNCW's two conference losses have come against Elon and Towson.
· Gary Jones and Diaz Nardo lead UD with four home runs.
· Friday's contests will begin at 6 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday's games are scheduled for 2 p.m.
