Blue Hens Travel to In-State Rival Delaware State Wednesday

DOVER, Del. – The University of Delaware baseball team will play its fifth road contest in its last six games Wednesday as the Blue Hens travel south to take on in-state rival Delaware State in a non-league game.
Jim ShermanNorm Donkin has been one of the hottest bats in the UD lineup of late. The senior batted .429 (9-21) last week and belted his first home run of the season in Delaware's 9-5 win over James Madison, Sunday. Donkin leads the Hens with six doubles and seven stolen bases.
Diaz Nardo has also been a bright spot at the plate this season for the Blue Hens (10-11). The first-year starter is batting .326 and has a team-high four home runs and 19 RBI.
The Hornets (6-19) come into Wednesday's matchup having lost seven games in a row and two straight to the Blue Hens.
Chris Gonzalez has started all 25 games for Delaware State and leads the team in batting average (.366) and doubles (seven).
After starting the season on the bench, Greg Olenski has earned a spot in the UD starting lineup. The senior has started the last four games and tallied seven hits and five RBI over that span. Olenski also currently leads Delaware with a .433 batting average and is second on the squad with four doubles in just six starts.
Colman Vila will get his second start for the Hens Wednesday. The freshman made his first career start last week and allowed five hits in four innings of work. The southpaw allowed two runs, but both were unearned.
First pitch Wednesday is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Delaware State's Soldier Field.

· Delaware leads the all-time series 38-10 and has won 10 of the last 13 meetings between the two programs.
· The first meeting between the Hornets and Blue Hens was in 1993.
· Zach Lopes is currently batting .315 and has recorded a hit in 15 of the last 16 games.
· Delaware has a 2-7 record on the road.
· Tyler Cullen will get the start for Delaware State.
· Delaware has scored at least eight runs in three straight games.
· The Hornets have only won one game on the road this season, but have a 5-6 record at home.
