BALTIMORE, Md. -- University of Delaware men's lacrosse standout Brandon Worrall has been selected to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Coaches Association (USILA) Scholar All-American Team.
Worrall, a senior from Plainsboro, N.J. (West Windsor North High School), is currently enrolled in the Master's of Business Administration program at Delaware after earning his degree in finance last May. He currently holds a 3.75 grade point average in the MBA program and will earn his master's degree later this month.
The Scholar All-American program honors seniors who hold a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average and earn either all-conference or All-American honors or play in the USILA North-South Senior All-Star Game.
Worrall enjoyed an outstanding senior season in 2015 after overcoming serious knee injury that forced him to miss the second half of the 2014 season. After missing the first two games this season while finishing his recovery, he played in 13 games with 12 starts and was the team's most reliable defender.
He earned second team All-Colonial Athletic Association after scooping up 24 groundballs and recording a team-high 12 caused turnovers that ranked among the CAA leaders in the category.
Also a member of the 2012 CAA All-Rookie team, Worrall finished his career having played in 50 games with 34 starts. He scored three goals, picked up 103 groundballs, and ranked No. 2 all-time in UD history with 50 caused turnovers.
His outstanding academic career included Dean's List honors, being named to the CAA Academic Honor Roll four years, and earning a spot on the CAA Men's Lacrosse All-Academic team in 2015. He also earned the UD Whitney Scholarship as an outstanding finance undergraduate student in 2014.
Worrall also served as a mentor at McVey Elementary, was a volunteer with Special Olympics and with the Little Laxers, and was a fundraiser for the HeadStrong Foundation where he helped UD lead all college teams by raising $25,000 for cancer research this past fall.
Worrall was one of just six CAA student-athletes selected to the team, joining Hofstra's Michael Malave and Ryan Rielly, Fairfield's Max Buchanan and Tristan Sperry, and Drexel's Nick Saputo.
