Mission of SSA
Student Services for Athletes (SSA)--a comprehensive program of support services and life skills development--assists student athletes with making the best possible academic and personal adjustment to the University. The focus of the program is on the academic, personal, and career development of its student-athletes.
The staff of Student Services for Athletes works closely with coaches, faculty and student services personnel to help student-athletes balance the demands of their academic responsibilities and participation in athletics. Student Services for Athletes directly assists student-athletes through: (1) counseling, (2) academic support, (3) workshops, (4) teaching, and (5) special programs. Student Services for Athletes also serves student-athletes through supervision of the HENS Peer Mentoring program, community service activities. The program serves the professional community through its research, training, and consultation activities, and by publishing and presenting to other professionals providing support services to student-athletes. OUR STAFF
The SSA staff is highly trained and experienced in general counseling issues as well as counseling issues specific to student athletes. The staff is comprised of professionals, graduate students and interns in both counseling psychology and athletic counseling.
