Delaware DH Greg Olenski Named to ABCA All-East Region Baseball Team

Jim Sherman, who led the Blue Hens to a record of 26-24 and a third place finish at the CAA Tournament last month. “Greg worked extremely hard this past year on his swing and his hard work surely proved out with this great honor. We are all very proud of him.”
After playing in just 4 of the first 12 games of the season, Olenski worked his way into a full-time role and became one of the nation's top hitters as he batted .373 and placed tied for second in the CAA batting race. He currently ranks No. 28 among all NCAA Division I players. He appeared in 40 games with 33 starts - all as the designated hitter - and went 50 for 134 at the plate. He also contributed 26 runs, 28 runs batted in, and five home runs, and ranks 15th in the nation with 17 doubles (0.43 per game).
Olenski also had 14 multiple-hit games, including five games with three hits, and knocked in two or more runs on six occasions, including a season-high four vs. Saint Joseph's late in the season. During one 17-game stretch at mid-season, Olenski batted .390 (25 of 64), hit safely in 15 games, and knocked in 15 runs.
An honor student as a criminal justice major, Olenski was twice named to the Colonial Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll and was picked as the team's CAA All-Academic Team selection this spring. He was also a CoSIDA Academic All-American nominee and earned the team's Sportsmanship Award.
