NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware field hockey program hosted more than 30 high school coaches this past weekend as part of a Coaches Clinic. Participants hailed from Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Jordan McKee“We, as the University of Delaware field hockey coaching staff, are very fortunate to do what we are doing and the amount of time we are able to spend on learning and teaching the game of field hockey in addition to working with our student-athletes,” commented Van de Kerkhof, who has led UD to back-to-back Colonial Athletic Association titles and NCAA Tournament appearances. “We believe it is important to create a platform in which we may share our knowledge with others and for others to share their expertise and ideas while we all improve our abilities together to become better coaches.
“At the end of the day, we – at every level, need to promote and develop the game, create positive growth opportunities for our student-athletes as players and people and along the way have hockey fun.”
Delaware field hockey hopes to continue the program next summer.
“There are moments to praise our student-athletes and at this moment I would like to compliment our coaching staff,” Van de Kerkhof exclaimed. "Beth, Missy and Jordan did an excellent job preparing for this event and their presentation and interaction with clinic participants was phenomenal.”
