No. 18 Hens Welcome Temple and No. 20 Princeton for Home Opening Weekend

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware field hockey squad will play in front of the home crowd for the first time this season as the No. 18 Blue Hens host Temple (7 p.m. Friday) and No. 20 Princeton (1 p.m. Sunday) at Fred P. Rullo Stadium.

Admission is free and open to the public for all home Delaware field hockey games held at Fred P. Rullo Stadium.

Fans unable to make it to the game in person can watch Sunday's match versus Princeton online, for free, via Hens All-Access. Full rebroadcasts of the game will be available on Delaware's YouTube page within 24 hours of completion of the contest.

· Lisa Giezeman leads the Hens with 1.25 goals per game and 2.75 points, marks good for seventh and eighth, respectively, nationally.
· Michaela Patzner is ranked 15th nationally with 0.75 assists per contest. She is also 10th all-time in program history with 93 career points on 35 goals (t-10th) and 23 assists (fifth).
· Emmeline Oltmans has allowed 1.25 goals per, a mark good for 17th in the NCAA.
· Esmée Peet broke into the career Top 20 list at CMU and is now 19th all-time with 66 career points (27g, 12a).
· This season is the 45th overall in program history. Delaware has tallied a composite record of 483-312-39 (.579) with 28 10-plus-win seasons.
SERIES INFORMATION
· Delaware is 31-24-4 against this weekend's opponents.
· The Blue Hens are 19-12-1 all-time against Temple since the series inception in 1980. Delaware has won five of the last seven versus the Owls, but fell in a disappointing 5-1 decision to No. 16 Temple last September at Geasey Field in Philadelphia.
· Delaware and Princeton are knotted up at 12-12-3 all-time since 1973. Last season, the Hens needed double overtime to finish the Tigers, 2-1, on the road. UD has not defeated Princeton at home since 1993.
· Kristen Holmes-Winn is in her 13th season as the head coach at Princeton. The veteran coach guided the Tigers to the Ivy League's first-ever national championship in 2012 and over her tenure has led Princeton to 11 Ivy League titles, 10 NCAA tournament appearances and a 153-75 (.671) overall and 79-5 (.940) Ivy record.
ABOUT TEMPLE
The Owls have gone 2-2 to open the 2015 season, with both of their losses coming to teams ranked in the Top 10 of the NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll. Temple is coming off an exciting, 3-2, home victory against Saint Joseph's this past Monday. Paige Gross, Sarah Deck and Alyssa Delp all scored for the Owls in the win. Delp was a unanimous selection to the 2015 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team and is currently tied for second on the team with six points (2g, 2a). Senior goalie Haley Mitchell has started all four games for TU and has collected 22 saves with 2.05 goals allowed per game.
ABOUT NO. 20 PRINCETON
The Tigers are 0-2 to start the year with losses coming to No. 2 North Carolina (5-2) and No. 9 Virginia (4-3, OT). Senior goalie Anya Gersoff was named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week by collecting 28 saves against the Tar Heels and Cavaliers. Sophia Tornetta collected Ivy League Rookie of the Week accolades after netting two goals and one assist during the week. The freshman added two defensive saves for Princeton. The Tigers face Bucknell Saturday before traveling to Newark for Sunday competition against the Hens.
