RICHMOND, Va. – Michaela Patzner (Rosenheim, Germany/Karolinen Gymnasium) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Field Hockey Player of the Week Tuesday after posting a career weekend for the University of Delaware.
Patzner led off the weekend by collecting a career-best seven points and her first career hat trick in the team's 7-4 victory over Temple.
With the seven points, the midfielder joined elite company and is one of just seven players in program history to reach the 100 career-point plateau.
Patzner added one goal and two assists in Delaware's 4-3 win against No. 20 Princeton Sunday afternoon. The Blue Hens are now 6-0 on the year.
In total, she finished the weekend with 11 points on four goals and three assists.
With 104 career points, Patzner (39g, 26a) tied Julie Grandell (1974-77) and sits fourth all-time in program history. Her 39 goals are also good to tie for eighth in the record books with Kelly Cawley (1995-98) and Juli Byrd (1998-01) while her 26 assists place her fifth all-time.
Melissa Wilken (James Madison) earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Delaware returns to the turf this coming weekend by hosting Bucknell (Friday) and Pacific (Sunday) at Fred P. Rullo Stadium.
