CHANDLER, Ariz. – Previously ranked No. 18, the University of Delaware field hockey squad has jumped four spots and sits in the No. 14 spot in the most recent Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll.
The Blue Hens have started the season undefeated for the first time since 2007 and currently hold a 6-0 mark on the year. Delaware received 364 votes to earn the No. 14 ranking and is just one of three Division I squads with a perfect record. Connecticut, Syracuse and North Carolina complete the top three spots in the poll.
UD is coming off of weekend wins over Temple (7-4) and Princeton (4-3), who was ranked No. 20 in last week's poll.
In total, the Hens have outscored opponents, 33-12, by a margin of 3.5, which is good for second nationally behind UConn's mark of 5.0. Delaware is tied for first alongside the Huskies with 5.5 goals per contest while the Blue Hens are alone in first with 16.0 points and 5.0 assists per game.
Delaware continues its four-game homestand this weekend by hosting Bucknell (Friday, 7 p.m.) and Pacific (Sunday, Noon) at Fred P. Rullo Stadium.
