Delaware Cracks NFHCA Top 20 With No. 18 Ranking

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Following a 4-0 start to the season, the University of Delaware field hockey team earned a No. 18 ranking in the most recent Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll.
UD earned the No. 18 spot with a total of 147 points. Connecticut, North Carolina and Syracuse complete the top three, also with undefeated 4-0 records.
The Blue Hens are 4-0 to open the year for the first time since Delaware began the 2007 campaign with seven straight victories. The record includes victories over Central Michigan (10-3), No. 19 Michigan State (3-1), Fairfield (4-1) and Cornell (5-0).
In total, the Hens have outscored opponents, 22-5. The 4.25 scoring margin is good for second amongst all NCAA Division I schools.
Jacki CoveleskiSophomore Emmeline Oltmans (Baarn, The Netherlands/Het Baarnsch Lyceum) has appeared in all 280 minutes for UD with 12 saves. Her 70.6 save percentage pits her 27th in nationally.
Delaware was last ranked last September, when the Hens were No. 18 in the 2014 Preseason Poll.
The Blue Hens open their home schedule this weekend by hosting Temple (Friday, 7 p.m.) and No. 20 Princeton (Sunday, 1 p.m.) at Fred P. Rullo Stadium.
