HONOLULU, Hawaii -- Former University of Delaware football standout Mike Adams will be making his second straight National Football League Pro Bowl appearance Sunday when the Indianapolis Colts star safety represents Team Rice at the annual all-star event.
The game will be played on Sunday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. (ET) at Aloha Stadium and will be televised live on ESPN2.
Adams, a 12th-year pro, will be one 86 players competing in the annual matchup and will be a member of Team Jerry Rice, which will take on Team Michael Irvin.
Adams, who earned all-conference honors during his standout Delaware career and was captain of the 2003 Delaware team that captured the NCAA Division Football Championship Subdivision national championship, is just the second Blue Hen to appear in the Pro Bowl.
Rich Gannon, who starred at quarterback for Delaware in 1983-85, played in the Pro Bowl four times for the Oakland Raiders and was selected as the game's Most Valuable Player in both 2000 and 2001.
A native of Paterson, N.J., Adams posted another outstanding season with the Colts in 2015 as he collected 75 tackles, five interceptions, six pass breakups, and three forced fumbles despite missing three games with an injury. He started 13 games and led the Colts in interceptions for the second straight year, ranking sixth among all NFL players in that category.
In his 12 NFL seasons with San Francisco, Denver, and Indianapolis, Adams has played in 175 career games, collected 704 tackles, and intercepted 23 passes, returning two for touchdowns. He also played in Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014 for the Broncos.
Adams was one of nine Blue Hens in the NFL this past season, the second most of any NCAA Division I FCS program. Adams was joined by QB Joe Flacco and TE Nick Boyle in Baltimore; DT Zach Kerr in Indianapolis; LB Pat Worrilow and OL Gino Gradkowski in Atlanta; DB Marcus Burley in Seattle; and QB Pat Devlin and OL Erle Ladson (practice squad) in Cleveland.
