CHANDLER, Ariz. – Despite picking up wins over Towson and then-No. 19 American this past weekend, Delaware fell one spot to No. 9 in this week's Pen Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll.
The Blue Hens are currently amidst a program-record 11-game winning streak and sit at 15-2 on the year and 4-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play.
UD is currently one of just six Division I teams nationally to possess two or fewer losses this season. Delaware also ranks fourth nationally with 4.29 goals per game, a scoring margin of 2.47 and 11.88 points per contest.
After sitting at No. 8 for two weeks, the Hens garnered 503 points to drop to No. 9 while Virginia (11-6) collected 506 points to move to No. 8.
Duke (14-2) captured 822 points and 29 first place votes to jump to the top spot in the poll. Syracuse improved one spot to No. 2 with 779 points and five first place votes while Connecticut (16-1) and Maryland (13-3) each registered 721 points and three first place votes to tie for third. North Carolina (13-4) slid one position to No. 5 with 694 points and two first place votes.
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, November 1. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection into the NCAA Tournament.
The Blue Hens wrap regular season action this coming weekend as Delaware hosts Northeastern (Friday, 7 p.m.) and Drexel (Sunday, noon) at Fred P. Rullo Stadium. Admission to all UD home field hockey games is free and open to the public.
