Delaware Falls in 57-54 Contest at Northeastern

BOSTON, Mass. – The Blue Hens made a valiant effort in the final quarter, but it was too little too late as Northeastern defeated Delaware, 57-54, Friday evening at the Cabot Center.
Down 48-36 to start the fourth, UD (13-12, 8-6 CAA) outscored the Huskies, 18-9, in the final stanza. A 3-pointer to tie the game from junior Hannah Jardine (St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada/O'Donel) was off the mark as time expired as NU came away with the win.
Redshirt sophomore Sadé Chatman (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Central) led all scorers with 12 points, six of which came in the fourth. Senior Courtni Green (Winchester, Va./Millbrook) added 11 points, four assists and three steals for the Hens.
Freshman Nicole Enabosi (Gaithersburg, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) collected a team-best seven rebounds to go with seven points.
Samantha DeFreese and Claudia Ortiz posted double doubles of 11 points and 11 rebounds and 11 points and 10 rebounds, respectively, for the Huskies.
“We didn't execute or follow the gameplan today, that was the biggest problem. We were starting to make strides in playing consistent basketball, but obviously tonight we didn't play how we needed to play. You have to give Northeastern credit, they've been playing very well and they have kids stepping up. This is a tough loss to take right now.”
HEN SCRATCHINGS
· Northeastern outrebounded Delaware, 41-33.
· The Blue Hens snapped a two-game winning streak.
· UD has won 29 of the last 31 against NU and leads the all-time series, 36-12.
· Erika Brown moved into 26th place in program history with 979 career points.
