NEWARK, Del. -- After opening its 2016 season on the road during the first two weekends of the season, the University of Delaware baseball team will play its home opener on Tuesday when the Blue Hens welcome Big Ten opponent Maryland to Bob Hannah Stadium for a 2:30 p.m. game with the Terps.
Delaware is 3-3 on the year, as the Blue Hens won two of three games at Stetson on Feb. 19-21 before dropping two of three at the ODU Tournament over the weekend. Junior leftfielder Jordan Glover leads UD with 10 hits, five runs scored, three doubles and seven RBI on the young campaign, while centerfielder Kevin Mohollen is batting .346 with nine hits and four runs scored.
Ron Marinaccio is pacing the pitching staff with a 2-0 record and a 1.64 earned run average through two starts, while Kyle Hinton has compiled a 3.38 ERA in three appearances.
Junior lefthander Kevin Milley, who has made two appearances so far this year, is scheduled to take the hill for the Blue Hens against the Terps.
Maryland, which was ranked No. 28 in last week's USA Today Poll, is also 3-3 on the year. The Terps dropped two of three games at Alabama two weeks ago, before taking two of three at home against Rhode Island last weekend. Nick Cieri is hitting .333 with a team-high eight RBI for Maryland, while Nick Dunn has posted a .273 batting average through six games.
Maryland, which has advanced to the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals in each of the last two years, was picked second in this year's Big Ten Preseason Poll. The Terps defeated Delaware on consecutive days during the 2015 season, posting a 5-3 victory on Apr. 28 in College Park and a 9-4 triumph the following afternoon in Newark.
Delaware remains home this weekend to host the Bob Hannah Invitational, beginning with a 2:30 p.m. contest against Delaware State on Friday.
