Blue Hen Senior Kiersten Coffman Named CAA Softball Pitcher of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware senior righthander Kiersten Coffman was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday following her outstanding performance at the FIU Felsberg Invitational.
Coffman (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs) made five appearances at the tournament, going 3-0 with a save while posting a 0.63 earned run average. She allowed just four runs, two earned, on 18 hits in 22.1 innings of work, striking out 21 batters while walking only six.
Coffman fired three innings of scoreless relief in Friday's opening game against Siena, before hurling six shutout frames in a win over Central Connecticut later that day. She gave up two runs, one earned, over five innings to pick up a victory against Siena on Saturday, and then twirled 1.1 frames of scoreless relief vs. FIU to earn her second save of the campaign.
Coffman then capped her week on Sunday with a complete game victory over Central Connecticut, giving up two runs, one earned, while striking out eight batters. Coffman, who leads the UD pitching staff with a 5-2 record and a 1.39 ERA, is tied for second in the CAA with five wins and is tied for the league lead with two saves.
Delaware, which won its final five games at the FIU Felsberg Invitational to improve to 8-4 on the year, opens its home schedule this weekend by playing five games in the Blue Hen Blast Tournament at the UD Softball Stadium.
