HOW IT HAPPENED
- Crossman recorded three groundouts in a scoreless first inning. She then worked around a two-out single by recording a strikeout to end the top of the second.Â
- Mulligan singled and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and an error, setting up the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Scheivert.Â
- MTSU immediately tied the game in the fourth with a home run.Â
- Delaware responded with a five-spot in the bottom of the fifth to take a 6-1 lead, all with two outs. Luzon gave UD the lead with a run-scoring single to bring home Bridget Chapman, then Mulligan hit a two-run home run. Scheivert's 200th career hit scored both Gallucci and Nankivell to cap off the inning.Â
- Crossman stranded a runner at second in a scoreless fifth and then threw a hitless sixth inning.Â
- Delaware scored three runs in the sixth to clinch the win. Mulligan led off the inning with her second home run of the night, then UD loaded the bases with no outs on walks by Gallucci and Nankivell. Sydney Shaffer and Costaro hit back-to-back sacrifice flies to score Gallucci and Nankivell, sealing a 9-1 win. Â
