CHANDLER, Ariz. – In addition to superior play on the turf, the University of Delaware field hockey team also continues to excel in the classroom, as the Blue Hens were acknowledged Monday by the NFHCA as a 2015 ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award recipient.

“How about those Blue Hens! They are a beautiful example of being 'true student-athletes' as they pursue excellence academically and athletically,” exclaimed Van de Kerkhof. “I am very excited for our players group and program to once again be recognized for their academic team success by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Our program shows that with the right balance, commitment, mindset and resources, our student-athletes can achieve academic success in all offered majors here at the University of Delaware, and at the same time also compete for CAA championships and the NCAA post season. I would like to congratulate and thank our team for representing themselves, Blue Hen Field Hockey, and the University of Delaware the way they have done and continue to do. I am very proud of their accomplishment and them as young talented people, and look forward to our 2016 team journey together.”
The Blue Hens collected the CAA three-peat with their third straight conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance this past fall.
