Hens Prep for CAA Men's Tennis Tournament

ELON, N.C. – The University of Delaware men's tennis team looks to knock of the top seed Friday morning in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament, held at Elon University's Jimmy Powell Tennis Center and Burlington Tennis Center.
The eighth-seeded Blue Hens (3-13) will face No. 67, and the tournament's No. 1 seed, UNCW for the second consecutive season at 9 a.m. Friday to kick off play at the Burlington Tennis Center. Delaware finished the year 3-13 while the Seahawks were 10-8.
Bruce MyersThe Blue Hens are led this season by Colin Wong (Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia/SMK Kota Kemuning), who has registered 10 wins, including five straight, during his sophomore campaign.
Alex Sweet (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) has also come on strong as of late and has logged three consecutive victories for a total of eight on the year for Delaware. Fellow senior Tim Puterio (Kingston, R.I./South Kingstown) has posted five triumphs while junior Tyler Flematti (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) recorded six of his own.The Hens have also had encouraging performances from the freshman class of Blaise Casselbury (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Country Day School) and Venkatesh Ramkumar (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon). Ramkumar has been credited with six wins while Casselbury has accumulated five.
The winner of Friday's match will advance to Saturday's semifinal contest against No. 4 College of Charleston or No. 5 Drexel. The CAA men's championship match is set for 10 a.m. Sunday. All semifinal and final contests will be played at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
Admission is free to all three days of the championship, with the champions earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
