RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware junior lefthander Kevin Milley was named the Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday following his outstanding start against Towson yesterday.
Milley (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape), making just his fourth start of the season and his first in conference play, allowed only three hits and struck out 10 in a complete game effort while leading the Blue Hens to a 6-1 win over the Tigers.
Milley gave up a run on two hits in the first inning but shut Towson down the rest of the way, allowing just one hit over the final eight innings to spark the Blue Hens to their second straight win and fourth in the last five outings. His complete game was only the second by a UD pitcher this season.
Milley improved to 3-0 on the season and lowered his ERA to 5.18, as he made his 20th appearance on the mound for the Blue Hens. He is the seventh UD player to earn CAA weekly honors this season.
Milley's victory gave Delaware the series win over Towson, as the Blue Hens improved to 31-20 overall and 9-12 in league play. UD and Towson are now tied for seventh place in the conference standings, just one game behind Charleston and James Madison. The top six teams advance to the CAA Tournament on May 25-28 in Charleston, S.C.
Delaware closes its regular season on Thursday through Saturday with a three-game home series against league-leading UNCW at Bob Hannah Stadium.
