LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Delaware sophomore Mariah Kondravy was named second team All-Northeast Region while freshman catcher Anna Steinmetz was a third team selection, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced on Thursday.
Kondravy, who was selected first team All-Region a year ago, is the fourth Blue Hen in school history to earn multiple All-Region accolades. Delaware, which featured two All-Region honorees a year ago, has produced multiple All-Region selections in consecutive years for just the second time in school history, along with 1999 and 2000.
Kondravy (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), who started every game this season, was selected first team All-CAA last week. She started games at rightfield and first base, along with at the designated player spot, and led the Blue Hens with 20 multi-hit games on the year. Her .382 batting average was the highest on the squad and fourth in the CAA, while she also tied for third in the conference with 14 doubles.
Additionally, Kondravy tied for fourth in the league and ranked second in a UD single season with 46 RBI, and was fifth in the conference with 63 hits. She already ranks second in Blue Hen history with 20 career homers, three shy of the school record, and is tied for third at UD with 101 RBI.
Steinmetz (Glen Mills, Pa./West Chester Bayard Rustin), the CAA Rookie of the Year who also earned second team All-CAA and CAA All-Rookie Team honors a week ago, started all 51 games during her freshman season including 36 behind the plate. She tied the UD single season record, set last year by Kondravy, with 15 home runs, which also tied for the conference lead.
She batted .314 during the campaign, while her 44 RBI were second on the team and fourth most in Blue Hen single season history. Steinmetz led the squad with 20 walks during the year, ranked second with nine doubles, and was third with 50 hits and 26 runs scored. She threw out 11 runners attempting to steal, and blasted two homers during UD's 8-2 win over Elon in the CAA Tournament.
