Softball Completes Sweep of MTSU With 4-2 Win

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Sorella Gallucci went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the second straight day.Â
- Sydney Shaffer went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored.Â
- Allie Nankivell had an RBI double and two walks.Â
- Bridget Chapman and Caylin Blazys went 1-for-3.Â
- Josie Crossman was the winning pitcher with six innings pitched and allowed three hits, two runs, two walks, and had seven strikeouts.Â
- Claire Woods earned the save, allowing no hits allowed and a strikeout in one inning of work.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Crossman had two strikeouts in two perfect innings to start the day.Â
- With two outs, Gallucci had an RBI single to score Chapman and Nankivell had a bloop RBI double to bring in Ellie Mulligan to give Delaware a 2-0 lead.Â
- Crossman worked around a two-out triple, the first baserunner she allowed, in the third to keep the Blue Raiders off the board.Â
- Shaffer had a leadoff triple in the bottom half and scored on an error to give UD a 3-0 lead.Â
- Crossman pitched hitless innings in the fourth and fifth with two more strikeouts.Â
- Back-to-back two-out hits gave MTSU its first run of the game in the sixth.Â
- In the bottom half, Blazys doubled and came around to score on an RBI single by Gallucci to put Delaware up 4-1.Â
- After MTSU got a run back in the seventh, Woods came on and recorded the save to seal the win.Â
GAME NOTES
- Delaware had its second-straight series sweep of the season and 20th under Jen Steele.Â
- Delaware improved to 74-23 in the month of April under Steele.Â
- Delaware has won 11 of its last 13 games.Â
- Gallucci had multiple hits in back-to-back games for the first time since April 2025 against Monmouth. She has had multiple RBIs in back to back games for the first time in her career.Â
- Nankivell's double was the first extra-base hit of her career.Â
- Nankivell extended her on-base streak to 21 games and her hit streak to nine. Blazys' on-base streak was extended to eight games.Â
- Maddie Diamond's on-base streak officially ended at 15 games.
- Shaffer's triple was the third of her career and first since April 10, 2024 against Delaware State. Â
- Gianna Costaro's hit by pitch was the 23rd of her career, one shy of tying Shelby Jones for second most in program history.Â
- Woods recorded her second save of the season and fourth of her career.Â
- Delaware finishes the weekend in a three-way tie for fourth place in the CUSA standings with Sam Houston and New Mexico State.Â

Delaware hosts Kennesaw State on Friday, April 17 for the start of a three-game conference series.Â
TICKETS
Softball season ticket deposits are available now. Season ticket packages and individual game tickets will go on sale later this winter.
Individual ticket prices will be $10 per game and $5 for youth (ages 3-12). Season ticket packages will be available at 50 percent off the single-game rate. There will also be group rates, incentives, and additional gameday experience opportunities. All seating will be general admission at Delaware Softball Diamond.
UD students will continue to receive free tickets to all home softball games.
