Delaware Football Season of Promise Opens with Preseason Drills Friday Morning

Dave Brock, now in his fourth season at the helm of the Blue Hens, will lead 95 players through a variety of practice and conditioning drills and scrimmages over the next month in preparation for the season opener set for Thursday, Sept. 1 vs. Delaware State at 7 p.m. at Delaware Stadium.Delaware returns 24 players with starting experience from last year's youthful squad that posted a 4-7 overall mark but recorded big wins over nationally-ranked William & Mary and New Hampshire and lost three games by a touchdown or less.
The Blue Hens return four starters up front and each of its top 10 rushers on offense while all three starting linebackers and four defensive backs from a defense that ranked in the Top 25 in the national in scoring defense, total defense, and rushing defense return.
The Blue Hens will hit the fields on Friday morning at 7:20 a.m. and will practice for approximately two hours. The team will continue morning practices from Aug. 6 through Aug. 13 before heading into the first preseason scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 13, at 3:30 p.m.
In addition, a Kids Day Youth Clinic at 12 noon and Media/Photo Day at 4:45 p.m are set for Sunday, Aug. 14 at Delaware Stadium. Further practice times and scrimmages will be announced on www.bluehens.com.
All Delaware practices and scrimmages are open to the public.
