Hens Recognized by ITA for Academic Excellence

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's tennis team was recognized recently by the ITA as an All-Academic Team while five Blue Hens were also honored for their hard work in the classroom during the 2015-16 season.
As a program, Delaware women's tennis has been acknowledged as an ITA All-Academic Team nine times since the program's inception in 2002. Additionally, 19 Blue Hens have also been honored as ITA Scholar Athletes, with many earning multiple-year accolades.
Laura TravisFreshmen Sarah Hall (West Orange, N.J./Mount Saint Dominic Academy) and Sara Komer (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) joined multi-year winners in seniors Denny LaMachia (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) and Nataliya Naumova (Moscow, Russia/Moscow 98 School No. 1953) and sophomore Amanda Studnicki (Normal, Ill./Normal West) as 2015-16 ITA Scholar Athletes.
LaMachia, a finance major, and Studnicki, an exercise science major, have each posted a perfect cumulative 4.0 GPA in their time as University of Delaware students.
LaMachia graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance in May. She has not exhausted her playing eligibility and will continue her collegiate career as a graduate student this coming season.
Naumova also graduated from the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and international relations.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or above on a 4.00 scale. In order to earn ITA Scholar Athlete status, a student-athlete must be a varsity letter winner with a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current academic year.
