CHANDLER, Ariz. – The University of Delaware dropped two slots to No. 12 in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll following a weekend in which the Hens went 1-1.
The Blue Hens (4-2) opened the weekend with a decisive 5-2 victory at Temple Friday before dropping a disappointing 4-2 contest at then-No. 16 Princeton Sunday. The Tigers have jumped six spots to No. 10 in this week's poll.
The top three spots remained unchanged as defending national champion Syracuse maintains its No. 1 ranking with a 6-0 start to the season. The Orange received 881 total points and 31 first place votes. Remaining at No. 2 is Duke (828; two first place votes), which also improved to 6-0 while No. 3 North Carolina (822; six first place votes) has won five in a row.
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, September 20. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection into the NCAA Tournament.
Following four games on the road, Delaware returns home to host Columbia Friday at 7 p.m. before taking on Indiana at noon on Sunday. All Blue Hens field hockey regular season contests at Fred P. Rullo Stadium are free of charge.
