Delaware Moves to No. 10 in Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll

CHANDLER, Ariz. – The University of Delaware field hockey squad continues to receive national attention as the Blue Hens moved up two spots to No. 10 in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll.
Delaware (8-2) went 2-0 on the week with wins over No. 20 Albany and at Lafayette and collected 468 points in the rankings.
After emerging as the last undefeated team in the nation, Connecticut (9-0) claimed the No. 1 ranking with 860 points and 14 first place votes while North Carolina (8-2) jumped three spots to No. 2 with 859 points and 18 first place votes. Duke (8-1; 848 points; 10 first place votes), Syracuse (8-1; 842 points; five first place votes) and Penn State (9-1; 718) rounded out the top five.
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, October 4. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection into the NCAA Tournament.
The three-time reigning conference champion Blue Hens open CAA action this weekend by traveling to No. 19 James Madison for a 6 p.m. start Friday before heading to William & Mary Sunday for a 1 p.m. start.
