Delaware Jumps to No. 10 in NFHCA Poll; UD?s Highest Ranking Since 1998

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Following a historic upset over then-No. 5 Virginia this past weekend, the University of Delaware jumped to No. 10 in the most recent Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll.
The Blue Hens, who were ranked No. 14 in the preseason poll, received 401 points to be slated 10th. Delaware (3-1) previously had not been positioned in the Top-10 since 1998 when the Hens reached as high as a No. 6 ranking.
Defending national champion Syracuse moved up to the No. 1 spot with 788 total points and 25 first-place votes following a 4-0 start to the season. Duke (4-0) came in at No. 2 while North Carolina (3-1) fell out of the top spot to No. 3.
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, September 13. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection into the NCAA Tournament.
Delaware makes its next appearance on the pitch at Temple this Friday at 4 p.m. before traveling to No. 16 Princeton for a 1 p.m. start Sunday.
