Delaware To Play Three Matches at Wolfpack Invitational This Weekend

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The University of Delaware volleyball team will play its final road tournament of the season this weekend when the Blue Hens travel to North Carolina State for the Wolfpack Invitational.
Delaware will take on NC State on Friday at 11 a.m., will face SMU Friday at 3 p.m, and will wrap up play against High Point on Saturday at 2 p.m. at newly-renovated Reynolds Coliseum. Live stats will be available for all three matches, while the contest against NC State will be livestreamed by ACC Network Extra.
The Blue Hens are 4-2 on the season, winning all three matches at the Navy Kristen Dickmann Invitational before taking one of three contests at the FGCU Hilton Garden Inn Invitational. Maria Bellinger leads Delaware with 2.68 kills per set, while Alexa Swann ranks sixth in the Colonial Athletic Association with a .363 hitting percentage.
Autumn Jenkins has been named to both all-tournament teams so far this year, while Julia Anderson is second in the league with 9.58 assists per set and Taylor Hollingsworth ranks third with 4.85 digs per set.
NC State enters the weekend with a 4-3 record, and the Wolfpack won two of three matches last week at the Ole Miss Tournament. Julia Brown paces the Wolfpack with 3.46 kills per set, while Teni Spitani is adding 2.96 kills per set and Maggie Speaks is averaging 10.72 assists per set.
SMU has split its first six matches of the season, taking two of three at its season-opening home tournament before dropping two of three last weekend at the Arizona Invitational. Katie Hegarty has posted a 3.85 kills average and a .317 hitting percentage for the Mustangs, while Kendall Patterson has averaged 10.00 assists per set and Morgan Heise is averaging 5.40 digs per set.
High Point heads into the tournament with a 5-2 record, which includes wins over CAA opponents William & Mary and Elon, but fell at VCU in four sets on Tuesday. Haley Barnes, the Big South Preseason Player of the Year, leads the team with 3.29 kills per set, while Jenna Smith and Carly Jimenez are combining to average 10.54 assists per set.
Delaware has dropped all three previous matchups with NC State, including a three-set defeat at last year's Wolfpack Invitational. This weekend will be the Blue Hens' first ever meetings with SMU and High Point.
