Delaware Ranked No. 11 in Latest NFHCA Coaches Poll

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Following a weekend in which the Blue Hens went 1-1, Delaware dropped to No. 11 in the most recent Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Coaches Poll.
The Hens (10-4, 2-0 CAA) received 715 points after falling to then-No. 21 Saint Joseph's, 2-1, Saturday before topping Columbia, 8-1.
Connecticut maintained its unbeaten record at 14-0 to accumulate 1,174 points and 46 first place votes to remain at the No. 1 spot in the poll.
The rest of the top five includes No. 2 Duke (12-2), No. 3 Virginia (12-2), No. 4 Michigan (13-2) and No. 5 North Carolina (12-3). The bottom half of the top ten consists of No. 6 Penn State (12-3), No. Louisville (11-4), No. 8 Northwestern (12-4), No. 9 Boston College (11-5) and No. 10 Syracuse (11-4)
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, October 24. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches, and has no bearing on selection to the 2017 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.
Delaware closes out its home regular season this weekend by hosting No. 18 William & Mary Friday at 7 p.m. before its annual senior day game Sunday versus Towson at noon. Admission at Fred P. Rullo Stadium is free and open to the public.
