RICHMOND, Va. - University of Delaware football earned its third and fourth individual Player of the Week citations by the Colonial Athletic Association this week as junior wide receiver Jamie Jarmon was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week and junior safety Nasir Adderley (below right) was selected as the CAA Defensive Player of the Week for their outstanding efforts in the 42-35 double overtime win ove Richmond Saturday.
Earlier this year, junior LB Troy Reeder was named Defensive Player of the Week and junior kicker Frank Raggo was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Week for their efforts vs. Stony Brook.
Jarmon contributed 144 all-purpose yards and a career-high three touchdowns as Delaware knocked off
Richmond, 42-35. The junior from Millsboro, Del. (Indian River HS) ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries and caught three passes for 41 yards and a score.
He scored on a 74-yard run and a 19-yard pass before finding the end zone on a five-yard run that tied the game at 28-28 in the fourth quarter. He became the first UD wide receiver to run for over 100 yards since 2013 and also tied a UD record by recording a touchdown reception for the fifth straight game.
In addition to the CAA honor, Jarmon was also selected to the STATS Inc. National Weekly Offensive Player of the Week honorable mention team.
Adderley recorded five solo tackles and intercepted two passes in the win over Richmond. The junior safety from Philadelphia, Pa. (Great Valley HS) picked off passes on consecutive possessions in the second quarter and his five solo tackles were the most of anyone on the Blue Hens' defense. Adderely is tied for the CAA lead with four interceptions this season and has forced five turnovers overall this year.
In addition to the Delaware duo, Rhode Island punt returner Matt Pires was named Special Teams Player of the Week and New Hampshire running back DeUnte Chatman and Elon quarterback Davis Cheek shared Rookie of the Week honors.
